A location can look perfect through a camera and still slow a production down. The first scout should therefore examine two properties at once: the world visible on screen and the working site behind it. Record sun direction, horizon lines, reflections, sound conditions and public sightlines, then map where crew, equipment, wardrobe, catering and vehicles will operate.
Kiri Anda offers seafront terraces, a large pool, tropical gardens, warm contemporary interiors, a cinema, entertainment rooms, six bedrooms and an approximately 200 sqm master suite within one estate. The elevated position provides uninterrupted sea views. It is not directly on a sandy beach, so the location should be selected for its private ocean outlook, architecture and tropical grounds rather than presented as beach access.
During the scout, photograph matching angles at the times the production expects to shoot. A beautiful late-afternoon view may behave differently in the morning, and a reflective pool or large window can change the lighting plan. The more accurately the scout represents the actual schedule, the fewer surprises appear after the crew arrives.
Count the Distinct Sets Before Planning Company Moves
One of the main advantages of a large private villa is the ability to create several visual environments without moving the company. List every usable setup and note which spaces can be redressed without disrupting another unit. Exterior terraces, bedrooms, gardens, pool areas and entertainment spaces may support very different scenes while sharing the same production base.
Check whether the layout supports the shooting method. Reality formats may need interconnected common areas and places for fixed or multi-camera coverage. Commercials may prioritise controlled hero angles, natural textures and clean product backgrounds. Fashion or lifestyle shoots often value fast movement between indoor and outdoor looks.
Also identify what must remain off camera. Crew circulation, holding areas, video village and equipment storage should not repeatedly cross the principal shot. A location with generous grounds can separate those functions, but only if they are assigned before the schedule begins.
Test Access, Loading and Parking
Production access should be measured, not assumed. Record gate dimensions, driveway width, turning space, loading zones, steps and the route from the vehicle to each set. Heavy or delicate equipment can turn a short distance into a significant delay if the route is narrow, uneven or shared with talent movement.
Kiri Anda has parking for up to eight cars inside the estate, with possible overflow arrangements. Gate dimensions, vehicle access, delivery times, turning and unloading requirements must be checked during the technical scout rather than assumed. A vehicle schedule should decide which vans stay on site and which unload and move away.
For larger shoots, create a traffic plan covering call times, catering, waste removal and emergency access. Drivers should receive the same instructions, and a production representative should control arrivals. This protects the location and prevents the entrance from becoming an improvised equipment store.
Confirm Power, Data, Sound and Privacy
The technical scout should document available power, distribution points, cable routes, internet performance and any areas where equipment must be protected from weather. Kiri Anda has native three-phase electricity and high-speed Wi-Fi, but the production remains responsible for declaring load requirements and determining whether additional distribution or backup is appropriate.
Sound requires a separate assessment. Listen for road activity, boats, wildlife, pumps, air-conditioning and neighbouring work at the hours that matter. A quiet scout at midday does not guarantee the same conditions after dark. Record room tone and discuss which systems can be paused safely during takes.
Privacy is crucial for unreleased campaigns, identifiable talent and reality productions. Kiri Anda has a three-metre perimeter wall, controlled access, outdoor CCTV and no public areas inside the estate. The production should still define confidentiality, phone use, visitor approval and the treatment of behind-the-scenes material.
Plan Crew Support and Multi-Day Continuity
A location day succeeds when people can work as well as the camera can see. Assign spaces for talent, wardrobe, hair and makeup, production management, meals and rest. Confirm bathroom access, air-conditioned holding and how private accommodation areas will be separated from work zones.
Kiri Anda has six double bedrooms and eight bathrooms. Any accommodation use, crew areas, changing areas, holding rooms, catering or off-site accommodation requirements must be agreed in the production proposal rather than assumed. Those arrangements should be scheduled alongside the shoot rather than added after call sheets are issued.
For multi-day productions, agree how equipment is secured, which setups remain dressed and who accesses the estate between calls. The final location agreement should state dates, hours, crew size, vehicles, areas used, power, catering, protection, cleaning and overtime. When those details are resolved early, the villa can deliver visual variety without creating operational friction.
